Hi, My name is Amy Poore. I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, and childbirth educator.

My role as a doula is to support and encourage birthing women and families through sharing evidence based information, physical and emotional support.  I believe in supporting parents in decision making about choices for their pregnancies and births, while demystifying (through education) the complex yet quite normal process of labor and birth.  

My husband and I live in Tollhouse, where we raised our three now grown children, and continue to enjoy our small community in the Fresno foothills.  I serve families in the Fresno/ Clovis area, with a special emphasis on supporting clients in my small community (Tollhouse, Prather, Auberry and surrounding areas) with private childbirth education classes and home/hospital birth doula support. 

My journey to birthwork began with my own births, each as unique and individual as the child that was born. From these experiences, I learned that each birth is a new birth, a new experience, a new opportunity for courage, strength and surrender!  It wasn’t long after my last birth (in 1999) that I started providing labor support for friends and family both in the home, and hospital settings. I love supporting and encouraging women as they grow through their own birth experiences!

In 2015, I attended a DONA International doula certification training, then continued my formal educational path through Fresno Birth and Baby. After having practiced for some time as a solo doula, I’m overjoyed to now be working in a partnership model of care with Fresno Birth and Baby! 

I enjoy reading and studying all things pregnancy/birth related, gathering with women in community, and listening to women share their birth stories!  In this vein, I facilitate two monthly community gatherings: Bookgroup (pregnancy/birth related books) at Family Birth and Education Center (Fresno), and Foothill Birth Circle at Intermountain Nursery (Prather).
